Bromic Tungsten Smart-Heat Electric Patio Heater (3000W/6000W)

I recently installed three of these heaters 2 (3000W) and 1 (6000W) and wanted to provide a review and information as I had a tough time with it myself while researching. IMO I would suggest buying more than you need as I have mine about 4.5' away from the chair backs of my outdoor dining table. At that distance 6000W is likely overkill but if you go over 6' or 7' I would say it isn't too much and for 3000W that distance is about right(and I wouldn't suggest going much further) if you really want to be able to feel the warmth. I have two 3000W installed spanning a distance of about 12' wide and I would say that is about right. You really do need line of site for these to work and do need to blanket the area you want to warm in order to feel it.

Just installed this week. In December. When it's in the 30's at night. We have a 14x18 covered deck with a ceiling fan. We have the 6000 watt version. That's the only one to get. Takes a while to get to full heating power but it does the job. In the 30's, you're still going to be cold and need proper clothing but it makes it possible to sit outside. I can see when the temperature is in the 50's, it'll be perfect to take off the chill. I had professional electricians wire it. Need heavy wiring from the panel directly to the unit plus a kill switch. They wired the deck so I can add a second heater in the future, which I will. Having 12000 watts coming from two directions will make it comfortable in low temps. We got the standard remote for$300+. It's just for on off and only controls one unit. If we get a second, we'll need a second remote. The $800 remote can dim the power. No need for that. Save the $500 difference. Without remote, you need to install 2 switches (1 for each element) in addition to the kill switch. (Switches need to be visible. Kill switch doesn't and it's behind the outdoor television.) After reading all the comments, it's clear the 6,000 watt is the only way to go. We tried a regular plug in heater and it didn't heat 2' in front of it. This is a powerful heater and is hardwired and run off a 220 volt 10 gauge wire. I highly recommend electricians wire it for you.

These are simply wonderful, we have two mounted about 16 feet apart and 8 feet high. Their heat maps overlap perfectly and they keep the area warm on cold Seattle nights. Very very happy.

I've had these heaters on my screened in porch for about a year now. They make chilly nights perfectly comfortable. My electrician initially wired them incorrectly so I called Bromic. They walked me through the proper wiring set up over the phone and I had both heaters working in under an hour!! It is rare that a company actually answers the phone these days but Bromic was there when I needed that technical support. I highly recommend these units!

Had an electrician run a 240 line out to my 14ft x 14ft gazebo so this unit (6000W version) could be installed (note that doing so costed more than this unit!...keep that in mind for your project budget...I received 3 quotes). The unit itself does a good job of putting out heat. Very directional though. This is installed top/center of a vaulted gazebo ceiling and I had to angle it to point toward the couches to get a bit more efficiency out of it. Pointing straight down on the coffee table resulted in some heat, but not enough to warm the general area under the gazebo. However slightly pointed directionally at the couche(s) works just fine.

5 stars for the product itself, but 4 stars for Bromic for price-gouging their timer switch which I think is a very important safety feature. I have little kids and though they know not to touch the on/off switch for the heater, kids are kids and without a timer this could be accidentally left on for days without me knowing. Serious safety/cost issue here and Bromic wants over $700 for that switch. Their remote is also out of this world expensive.
